Dickinson actor and Greenville native Samuel Farnsworth traded his on-set period costuming for looks styled by Bill Mitchell of Billiam on a recent afternoon in front of the camera. The red bell-bottoms were an initial favorite, but Mitchell’s expert styling of a pair of vintage Lee baggy dad jeans turned them into the unexpected star of the wardrobe selections.
The final shot choices from the shoot, which took place around downtown Greenville, were made by Farnsworth’s most trusted advisor and confidant—his sister, Claire, who recently moved to New York City, only a few blocks away from her brother to pursue her comedy career.
Since moving to New York, and especially in the last 18 months, Farnsworth remains a regular visitor to his hometown to see his family, his Instagram (@samuelfarnsworth_) shows many of downtown Greenville’s recognizable restaurant balconies and rooftops. This time he made a quick stop at his former high school, the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, to chat with students.
And as to what’s next, after the third and final season of Dickinson airs, premiering on Apple TV+ on November 5, Farnsworth says he’s leaving it up to the universe to decide as he enters the job hunt.
“Sometimes you audition for stuff you’re not crazy about,” he says. “But there is this element of, like, you get cast when you’re right for the role. And I think then if you’re right for the project and then maybe since you fit it more, you like it more and it’s all there. So I almost feel like the next thing I would be cast in probably, inevitably, would be something I was interested in.”
