Golden Hour
If coffee and books are a match in the morning, then it follows that wine and books are a perfect pairing after work. Thank M. Judson Booksellers for this novel idea, as the store morphs into a wine bar each afternoon from 4–7pm. Whether you want to wind down alone or enjoy a glass of wine with friends, Golden Hour affords a perfect opportunity to decompress from the day. Like a good book, the thoughtfully curated wines from local distributor Mission Grape tell their own stories of the people, places, and sustainable production methods behind them.
Chef Teryi Youngblood Musolf has created a menu of tapas such as marinated olives, parmesan biscuits, and vegan mushroom puffs to pair with your aperitif. Whether you sit in one of the shop’s cozy nooks or sip your wine as you browse the bookshelves, wine and books make a lovely marriage.

Just behind Main Street in Fountain Inn, the former Ellison Flour Mill has been born again as a brewery and restaurant. The Mill at Fountain Inn boasts two bars with 16 taps plus craft cocktails and wine. Elements of the historic mill have been saved, such as the original wood on the floors, beams, and some of the walls.
Upstairs is more space for events and additional seating, while out back, a fenced lawn offers space for kids to play, plenty of picnic tables, and a big screen for showing movies and sports matches. Wash down those brews with a menu of shareable snacks and a large selection of pizzas. And soon there will be more food items to choose from: plans call for creating a food hall in one of the other mill buildings in the near future.

Make Room for Donuts
If you’ve been bemoaning the fact that there’s no room at Scout’s Donuts in Overbrook to sit and enjoy your favorite flavor of their many-layered croissant/donut hybrids, you’ll be happy to know that now there is. No longer will you have to do the donut dash, as owners Ryland and JP Rainsford have doubled their square footage by taking over the vacated space next door.
Scout’s original footprint now functions as the donut bakery, where the team turns out irresistible seasonal flavors like lemon blueberry, Key lime pie, and coffee buttercream. With the new space comes a full-service coffee program, adding espresso, cortado, latte, and more to sip with your donut. The owners have also extended their hours to 4pm, so you can drop by with the kids for an after-school snack.
