Pills. Powders. Peptides.

Aminos. Adaptogens. Regimens.

So much information flows into all of our lives about how to improve our health and wellness, especially during this time of resolutions and renewal. Amid the cacophony, it’s important to recognize what the word means. It’s simply well-being—mental, physical, and social.

If you do something that makes your life better, more enjoyable, healthier, or happier, that’s wellness at work. No judgment here—if one or more of the items above adds to your life, then that’s a worthwhile addition to your wellness efforts.

It was just this definition of wellness that got us thinking of the psychological powers of grilled cheese sandwiches. Whether it’s the cozy flavor, nostalgia, or a cheese-induced dopamine hit, it’s a can’t-miss choice on a day when you need a well-being boost. Our deep dive on Upstate grilled cheeses offers some options on where to get a great one.

We also dig into trail running, cold plunges, a wellness retreat at Hotel Domestique, and a locally produced film in which a regular guy gets trained by two mixed-martial arts professionals.

If updating your space is part of your wellness plan, you’ll want to hear the closet tips from the woman behind Curated Threads. Danielle Walter of Diggs Designs offers thoughts on how to improve mental well-being in your living space. And don’t miss the inspiring story of artist Hans-Peter Bolz, who picked up a brush in his 60s and never looked back.

We hope you enjoy these varied ways to add wellness to your life. No matter how you choose to spend it, we wish you a happy and healthy 2026.
