The Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities took to the ONE Building’s rooftop for a sky-high celebration of its students, alumni, and faculty. Actress Nicole Beharie and violinist Maggie Gould were recognized with the President’s Young Alumni Award, while current students put on a display of their talents with ballet, choir, and marimba performances as well as a visual arts exhibit and an interactive creative writing activity. The Governor’s School for the Arts Foundation also honored Dr. Bruce Halverson, the Governor’s School’s retiring president.
A century ago, Upstate-based Army camp Sevier transformed the tides of World War I when its 30th Infantry Division took the Hindenburg Line. Through a collection of letters and photographs, local historians honor Camp Sevier and the sacrifice of its brave boys.
