Fore! High style, bright colors, and fun design dominate this year’s game
When it comes to sports, golf is undoubtedly one of the most traditional, with its manicured venues, hushed tones, and structured play. But that doesn’t stop linksmen and women from injecting personality into their wardrobes. “We’re seeing more hoodies, bright colors, and florals,” shares Ashley Hayes, merchandise manager at Thornblade Club. “We’re also having a lot of fun with microprints, injecting Transfusions and cocktail glasses with our logo.”
Ahhh, Transfusions? The magical vodka, ginger ale, and grape juice elixir featured on a shirt? OK, we’re game. What else do you have? “We’ve steadily been expanding athleisure wear for ladies. It’s evolving,” she reveals. “And we’re improvising with our logo: the single rose.”
Across town, Greenville Country Club’s Pro Shop is making use of the Chanticleer course mascot, a rooster. “Chanticleer celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2020,” explains Sean McGaughey, golf director. “We teamed up with Jack Mason for an anniversary watch. It’s heavy, like a Rolex, and has a custom-made bezel just for the club with the rooster. It’s a nice-looking piece.”
No matter where athletes hit the links, if they look good, they feel good, which helps to seize every mental edge possible when one stroke determines who buys drinks at the 19th hole.
