Christie and Byron met through mutual friends while students at Clemson University, but they didn’t officially date until the following year. Being devoted Clemson fans, they started attending all the home games together. After 14 years, the proposal was a surprise: friends unexpectedly stopped by, followed by some of Byron’s family. As she hugged them, Byron came up behind her and got down on one knee.
In honor of the couple’s longevity, Christie jokingly blew fake dust off her handwritten vows at the altar. Byron was shocked, and the crowd burst into laughter; a video of the moment went viral on TikTok. The wedding was held at The School House Venue in Travelers Rest. Alison Adams with Beauty by Ten Oh Eight did hair and makeup. Christie wore the Gita Marie gown by Abella Bride, purchased from The Dressing Room South in downtown Greenville.
