Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee, pairs upscale elegance with an outdoor retreat.
Linger Longer.
It’s not only the name of the road winding along the towering pines of Reynolds Plantation in Georgia as you make your way toward Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee. It’s also a state of mind.
Situated on the shores of the 30-acre lake, and a 2.5-hour drive from Greenville, the Greensboro, Georgia, resort caters to those seeking upscale elegance and renowned amenities. Many large rooms and suites feature outdoor patios, glass fire tables, and soaking tubs, along with plush robes, and turndown service. For larger groups, two- and three-bedroom cottages and a three-level private Lake House are available.
Recreation Along Lake Oconee
Outdoor activities on and off the lake are the main draw here. Bring your boat or rent a jet ski to explore the lake, with its 374 miles of shoreline. Or get on the water by grabbing a kayak or paddleboard, included with the daily resort fee. A sandy beach area with chairs is an option, as is the adults-only infinity pool. A family swimming pool, with an adjacent Ritz Kids Clubhouse, offers a rotating calendar of outdoor activities for ages 5–12. Bike rentals, also included in the daily resort fee, are a great way to explore the eight miles of biking and walking trails. The area is hilly, so you’ll get a decent workout.
For golfers, five signature golf courses provide 99 holes of challenging play. The Kingdom at Reynolds Lake Oconee (one of two locations in the country) offers a unique golf experience for all levels, including custom-speed club fittings with a TaylorMade Master Clubfitter, private lessons, and golf school.
Ritz-Carlton Reynolds Amenities
Ritz-Carlton, Lake Oconee, is an inclusive resort where you never need to leave the property, even for meals. Five restaurants offer plenty of options, from grabbing a pre-dinner drink at Barrel Room, which boasts the largest personal selection of custom barrels of bourbon and whiskey in the Southeast, to fine dining at Linger Longer steakhouse. Grab a waterside lunch at Gaby’s by the Lake or coffee and a pastry to go at The Coffee Shop. A new Italian restaurant, set to open this April, will bring another cuisine choice to the property.
“We feel really grateful for the special escape we’ve created here at Lake Oconee,” says the general manager, Ralph Vick. “From beautiful lake views at every corner, an array of outdoor activities, and, of course, delicious dining offerings, we have a little bit of everything that makes for a great escape—and for any type of traveler, too. We love seeing our guests come back again and again to experience it all.”
As expected, summertime gets busy at the resort, but there are still plenty of quiet moments: a few hammocks strung between the tall pines; swings for the young and old; nightly s’mores by the bonfire. It all comes together to make this getaway a truly exceptional place to linger longer.
