While some are blessed with great style, others are blessed with a great closet. And then there are those who are fortunate enough to have both. Take Greenville resident Emily Oglesby, who experienced the joy of designing her very own custom closet. With its classic white shelving and cabinetry, adjustable shoe shelving, and fully equipped vanity, the closet is what dreams are made of.
For Oglesby, the closet is more than a dream—it’s a reality that facilitates her functional and feminine style. With her self-described “no fuss policy,” practical items, such as dresses, fill the closet. “I have loved dresses since I was a little girl,” says Oglesby. “The ease and comfort of a dress is something I reach for often.” Neutral layering pieces, like denim jackets and cardigans, are also closet essentials.
Along with its thoughtful wardrobe, the large, well-lit space also some handy structural features. The pull-out garment rack, which she describes as a favorite, helps Oglesby plan outfits and pull garments for travel. The closet also includes two full-length mirrors with a dual function: one hides a custom jewelry storage space; the other conceals an entryway to a secret room, which Oglesby describes as the “perfect spot for hiding Christmas presents.”
Beyond her practical philosophy, the Greenville resident emphasizes her wardrobe’s quality and invests in great pieces that will stand the test of time. Although she gravitates toward the functional, she still has funky items, including combat boots, sequined joggers, and a faux-fur stole. Her playful side comes out in other ways, too. When asked what she wanted to add to her closet, she said a small bar cart: “Self-care is important after all!”
