Judith C. Gomes and Vikash Patel
March 1, 2025
As luck would have it, Vikash Patel bought a home just across from Judith Gomes’s parents and two doors from the Gomes’s popular convenience store and eatery, the Drop-In Store. Vikash swung by one day to introduce himself, and a romance soon followed.
Not ones to do things halfway, the couple had two dramatic engagements: one on a scenic boat ride on Lake Geneva in Switzerland, and then another amid the cherry blossoms of Kyoto, Japan.
The wedding was a whirlwind five-day affair that kicked off with a welcome dinner, followed the next day by two celebrations honoring the couple’s heritage (the pithi pre-wedding ritual is traditional in Gujarat, in western India; the Roce ceremony is a traditional Catholic pre-wedding ritual in Goa, in southwestern India).
Next, they held a mehndi event (also known as a henna party, where intricate henna designs are applied to the bride’s hands and feet), followed by the baraat (wedding procession) and a Hindu wedding ceremony on Friday morning. That night, the couple hosted a 1960s Bollywood cabaret-themed sangeet (wedding celebration with music and dancing). On Saturday they staged the Catholic wedding ceremony and black-tie reception.
The slate of events, all at Hotel Hartness, included 450 guests, including 52 groomsmen for Vikash. AG Designs, a luxury wedding concierge, provided outfits for the Roce, pithi, and mehndi events, as well as all of the jewelry. Judith wore Seema Gujral for the sangeet, Sabiyasachi for the Hindu ceremony, and an Enzoani gown, purchased at Dimitra Designs, for the Catholic ceremony. She donned a Nadine Merabi dress for the reception.
Vikash, a cofounder of Logisticus Group, and Judith, a clinical pharmacist at Pelham Medical Center, live in the North Main area, near the shop where they first met.
