Olivia and Miguel met at Southern Wesleyan University, where both were student-athletes—volleyball was her sport and he played soccer. At first, busy schedules kept them apart, but once they had a chance to spend some time together, they realized they shared a bond they couldn’t ignore.
Known for his grand gestures, Miguel asked Olivia to be his girlfriend at the top of the Ferris wheel in Atlanta, so when he proposed marriage it had to be just as special. The pair was vacationing in Miami, and before a dinner reservation they were conveniently early for, they stopped on the beach where Miguel had set up a picnic with flowers, balloons, and twinkling lights, and he asked her to be his bride.
They celebrated their wedding day at The Gassaway Mansion. To accommodate Miguel’s Colombian family members during the ceremony, the couple had two officiants: one who spoke English and one who interpreted in Spanish. In her Stella York gown from Voila Bridal, Olivia said “I do” to Miguel, continuing a love story that spans oceans.
At the reception afterward, a bilingual DJ kept the party pumping. The couple remains in Greenville.
