An Upstate dance class is giving community members an opportunity to learn the moves from a viral dance video.
Former Bollywood movie star Sunitha Raj is teaching dance steps from the music video of the Academy Award-winning song “Naatu Naatu” by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava at her Bollywood Bling course at Senior Action in Greenville.
“I have always been a fan of music director Mr. M.M. Keeravani and his compositions,” said Raj. “His ‘Naatu Naatu’ became a phenomenal hit even with its pre-release, but no one imagined it would win [at] the Oscars. Many probably dreamed of an Oscar win, but to actually bring one home is historic, and we are all beaming with pride. We are so proud of the “RRR” team for a fantastic win and hope it’s the first of many more to come. This win illustrates the power of positive energy and dreaming big, which is something I try to teach my students. I want them to learn to believe we can fly high and celebrate every moment.”
Raj, who has starred in more than 50 Bollywood movies, also introduces her students to other aspects of Indian culture such as festivals to fashion.
