If you’re feeling cooped up and ready for a vacation, but don’t have the time or budget to make one happen, it might be time to consider a little staycation. You never know—you might discover something new in your very own city.

A world away

Check in for a weekend—or just a night—at the Grand Bohemian Lodge in Greenville and you will feel like you have escaped the real world. The jaw-dropping hotel along the Reedy River offers a true escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown Greenville; you feel transported to a mountain lodge before you even walk through the lobby doors. Once you pass the spacious green lawn, life-size statues, and sparkling geodes, you’re welcomed by a crackling fireplace accompanied by luxe seating areas to relax and enjoy a cocktail or a small bite. Built seamlessly into the landscape of Falls Park, no detail has been spared here.

Other great lodging options include The Westin Poinsett, a true Greenville classic built in 1925; and Swamp Rabbit Inn, a modern bed-and-breakfast in a convenient downtown location.

Dine in style

You won’t want to miss an evening meal at Between the Trees at Grand Bohemian Lodge, where the culinary experts craft a menu as fresh as the season. Each month, just-picked ingredients from local farmers are highlighted on the menu, which offers “modern lodge cuisine” from first sip to final bite.

Or stroll down Main Street and you’ll run across a wealth of intriguing options, including classics like Soby’s New South Cuisine and Trattoria Giorgio, and newer favorites like Scoundrel and Jones Oyster Co.

The next morning

Ready for brunch? Try one of these picks to get your staycation day started: Nosedive (check out the Adluh Mills Grits Bar), Up on the Roof (for ultimate city views and bottomless mimosas), Halls (an elegant brunch every Sunday), or Ink N Ivy (creative takes on chicken and waffles and breakfast burritos).

Plan Your Day

The Grand Bohemian offers plenty to keep you occupied during your stay—from active pursuits to pure relaxation. Schedule a bike from the hotel’s partnership with Reedy Rides and hop right on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, a 28-mile paradise for bikers, runners, and walkers. If biking isn’t your speed, there are plenty of views to take in while enjoying Fall’s Park or walking down Main Street.

If you’re looking for something more relaxing, make your appointment at Poseidon Spa at Grand Bohemian Lodge. In this oasis, the walls are covered in exquisite tile that mimics the nature and trees just outside the hotel. The knowledgeable staff is ready to take care of you from head to toe.

In late spring and summer, the TD Saturday Market on Main Street is highly recommended. Take a walk through the vibrant market full of local vendors offering baked goods, coffee, plants, artisanal items, and the freshest fruits and veggies, sold straight off the farm from the farmers themselves.
