The Family Effect

Addiction does not merely impact the individual using substances. Its dark shadow looms over the entire family, including children.

That’s why The Family Effect works tirelessly to reduce addiction as a leading cause of family collapse and harm to children in our area by supporting evidence-based programs at the Phoenix Center. These programs provide a safety net for our community’s most vulnerable children and preserve hope in families all over the Upstate. Specialty services include those designed to help pregnant women and young mothers, children and adolescents, individuals experiencing withdrawal symptoms, and individuals with co-occurring conditions.

Treatment services provide support to 5,000 community members each year and another 20,000 are reached through prevention services, including students in schools.

This collaboration between The Family Effect and the Phoenix Center strengthens the family unit by focusing on the root cause of family collapse, addiction in the home. Outcome data indicate that families who participate in our services use less alcohol and other drugs after completion, they are more stably housed, work more consistently, and have fewer interactions with law enforcement.
