Through its partnership with Clemson University’s LIFE program—where students with intellectual disabilities receive a collegiate experience through coursework and career exploration—The Shepherd Hotel is dedicated to training and gainfully employing students and local adults with intellectual disabilities through its diverse positions in the hotel and Delish Sisters restaurant. Almost one in three of The Shepherd Hotel’s team has an intellectual or developmental disability and many of these team members are pursuing hospitality career paths. From its opening in late 2022, the mission of The Shepherd Hotel has been to deliver an upscale boutique lodging and dining experience while showcasing authentic hospitality as delivered by its inspirational team.
