If fitness is a lifelong journey, the Life Center YMCA has a new tool that can help make the trip easier. EGYM Smart Strength is a digital fitness platform that uses smart equipment and personalized workouts to help people reach their individual fitness goals.

It’s designed to be simple: participants get an orientation with a coach and a free wristband, then complete an assessment that sets up ideal resistance levels.

Any time you head to the gym, tap your wristband on the machine and the system sets everything up for you, including weights, range of motion, and program. It even tracks your reps for you. Whether you are interested in overall fitness, fat loss, muscle building, or rehabbing an injury, the EGYM Smart Strength system adjusts your sessions to help you get the results you want.

After launching at the Life Center YMCA, the program will also be added at the Prisma Health Family YMCA in Simpsonville.

“EGYM Smart Strength has allowed our members to have personalized workouts tailored to their specific goals and progress, every time they come in,” says Sam Franklin, president and CEO of the YMCA of Greenville. “We are so excited to offer this program to our members at the Life Center YMCA and Prisma Health Family YMCA.”

EGYM Smart Strength can adapt to these four training methods

Regular – Steady tempo with light-to-moderate resistance

Negative – Lighter lifting phase and heavier, slower lowering phase for strength

Adaptive – Weight decreases as you fatigue

Explonic – Quick, explosive movements for building power
