I saw the T-shirt all over social media. University of South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley, hair pulled back, wearing a colorful necklace, a red and black cardigan, and underneath, her shirt spoke volumes: Everyone Watches Women’s Sports.
I remember a time when the saying was just the opposite; no one watches women’s sports. But the company Togethxr created the shirt to flip that narrative, especially since it’s demonstrably, and increasingly, false.
The night Dawn Staley wore the shirt, for a South Carolina-LSU game that was broadcast live on ESPN, the women’s game had more viewers than the NBA game held that same night, a matchup between the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat. And the T-shirt sold out in two hours.
Togethxr was launched by Jessica Robertson to elevate women’s sports, backed by a team of top athletes including Sue Bird (basketball), Alex Morgan (soccer), Chloe Kim (snowboarding), and Simone Manuel (swimming). But few have elevated women’s sports more than Staley, whose Lady Gamecocks have the highest average attendance in women’s basketball—not to mention three NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship titles.
In addition to an inspiring Q&A with Staley, our March issue offers a closer look at a variety of sports that everyone can enjoy, whether as a participant or a spectator. Kawonu Golf Club, set to open in early 2027, is already drawing top players for its stunning scenery in Simpsonville; the Credit One Charleston Open will feature some of the greatest tennis players in the game this spring on Daniel Island; and one Greenville couple’s passion for biking has taken them 12,000 miles and counting. Plus, we showcase tennis style, turkey calls, pickleball developments, sports psychology expertise, and much more.
Check out our Sporting Issue and find a few ways you can get in the game. And don’t miss the 2025 SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament at Bon Secours Wellness Arena beginning March 5. The play will be fast, fearless, and focused—and everyone will be watching.
