Gratefull GVL returns with support from United Way of Greenville County
The first Gratefull GVL event took place in 2019, with more than 3,000 people from all walks of life gathering around a 400-foot-long dining table to share good food and goodwill. The inspiring event was declared a resounding success, but the COVID-19 pandemic put plans on hold for several years.
In 2024, the massive communal table was filled once again, this time with 5,000 people enjoying food from more than 40 Greenville restaurants.
After a year off, the event is back under the United Way of Greenville County umbrella. “This tradition reflects the very best of who we are,” says Meghan Barp, president and CEO of United Way of Greenville County. “Gratefull Greenville is about belonging, connection, generosity, and the belief that everyone deserves a seat at the table.’
Hundreds of volunteers will serve food donated by area restaurants. Organizers hope diners will sit with someone they don’t know and strike up a conversation, and they are providing conversation cards to help break the ice and encourage new connections.
To attend, simply show up; no ticket is necessary. To volunteer or make a donation, visit gratefullgvl.org.
