This couple met on a research cruise in the North Atlantic and became friends in graduate school at the University of South Carolina. They shared their first kiss on Liberty Bridge in Falls Park. Doug popped the question during a tour of the gardens at Biltmore House, and the wedding took place on the rooftop at Avenue.
Special details included a signature Rum Swizzle drink, in honor of the grad school advisor who brought them together; a choreographed first dance; and a special first dance with Bridget’s uncles, as her father passed away suddenly in 2021. The bride wore a BHLDN dress and a custom belt purchased through Poinsett Bride.
The couple works in Washington, D.C.—she’s a policy analyst for the Department of the Treasury and he’s a management and program analyst for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration—and recently bought their first home in Maryland.
