Every medical decision Dr. Taylor Love makes for her patients includes a deep dive into cellular make-up and genetic disposition. She knows the power of heritage, and as the daughter of Dr. George Ibrahim, is living proof of the strength and legacy of DNA. “Both of my parents are doctors,” she shares. “There was always medical talk at the dinner table, and it fascinated me. My dad’s the smartest person I’ve ever met and he’s passed on so much to me. To work with him every day? It’s a lot of fun.”
Last June, father and daughter opened Biltmore Restorative Medicine and Aesthetics on Augusta Street, an extension of the practice Ibrahim started in Asheville in 2013. Hundreds of patients travel from as far as Florida and Alabama to receive treatment for aesthetic, anti-aging, hormone, and sexual wellness issues. “I’m passionate about restorative medicine,” says Love. “My goal is to help patients achieve a sense of vitality, confidence, and excellence that they either once felt or have aspired for.”
Her father spent his early career in the operating room as a urologist before changing course to lead the field in this growing, medical niche. “One of my core missions has always been to do something and be at the forefront,” he says. “And to have my daughter join me? She’s hit the ground running and made it her own. I love it.”
Father-daughter Partnership
With 60 percent of patients being female and 40 percent male, both doctors bring a unique perspective to better relate to those in their care. “I can’t pretend to know what a hot flash feels like, nor a menstrual cramp, but she’s lived that life,” Ibrahim explains. Love admits she hears more than most offspring about their parents’ sex life. “It has led to some laughs during consultations,” she admits with a chuckle. “He’ll start with, ‘I know she doesn’t want to hear this.’ But I like when doctors share something in their personal life to help patients understand a concept or reinforce the idea they’re not alone.”
Hormone optimization, peptide therapy, O-shots—the doctoring duo is constantly pressing forward. “This area of medicine is blossoming,” Love says. “We’re just starting to enter this world and there’s so much research going on. I feel very grateful and appreciate joining him as a physician in this practice he’s built from the ground up.”
Love is certainly another bright bloom on the family medical tree. Ibrahim’s father was a cardiothoracic surgeon, and now, Love’s young daughter is showing a preference for playing doctor and caring for her baby brother. “It might just be in the genes,” Ibrahim acknowledges, smiling. “It’s very rewarding to see older people down in the dumps, or living a ho-hum life, get their spark back, energy back, and that feeling of desire back. It’s fun to see.”
