Bonnie Campbell and Malachi Camp
October 25, 2024
Thanks to their similar last names, Bonnie Campbell and Malachi Camp found themselves sitting in close proximity in several classes as middle schoolers at League Academy, and then again at Wade Hampton High School. But the acquaintances didn’t become a couple until much later, when social-distanced hangouts in 2020 became real dates.
They navigated many months of long-distance dating as Bonnie finished her undergraduate degree at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Malachi studied political science and history at USC Upstate. Once Bonnie moved back to South Carolina, the couple headed to Mt. Pleasant to celebrate their three-year anniversary—and being in the same city again. The weekend became even more special when Malachi popped the question as the sun set behind the Pitt Street Bridge, presenting Bonnie with a ring he had secretly bought two years prior.
The ceremony and reception, held at a friend’s home in Landrum, was a collaborative effort, as the couple wanted to support local small businesses while featuring the work of their talented friends and family. All decor was thrifted, borrowed, or made by Bonnie and friends, with drinks provided by The Pub for What Ales You, formerly owned by Malachi’s father. Guests were treated to food from Bohemian Cafe, florals from Toe Beans Farm and Garden, and cake from Sidewall Pastry Kitchen.
Bonnie wore a draped Sparrow dress from Jenny Yoo, purchased at Bloom Bridal in Greenville, with alterations by Linette at Find Me Behind the Seams.
