Nikki Evangelista creates a flavorful Filipino breakfast

A traditional Filipino breakfast consisting of garlic rice, fried egg, and a sweet and salty protein of choice, Silog is a portmanteau of sinangag (garlic rice) and itlog (egg). There are multiple varieties of this dish, based on the protein that comes with it. The most popular ones are Tapsilog (for tapa or cured steak), Longsilog (for longanisa, or breakfast sausage), and Tocilog (for tocino, or cured pork). A plate of Silog is usually accompanied by a bright and fresh tomato cucumber salad, a spicy vinegar dipping sauce to cut through the richness of the meat, some fresh-cut fruit, and a nice, strong cup of coffee.

Next Move for Tajh Boyd

Football stats, however, don’t begin to describe the measure of the man that is Tajh Boyd. Thoughtful and service-driven, he is the definition of resilience and optimism in even the darkest of times. As he reflects on the disappointments of his post-college career, he says that “during some of the down moments, there was a time in which I wondered if my career meant anything. Then I realized that the experiences I went through in the game weren’t just for me but for me to use to help younger players. I wouldn’t trade any of the moments I endured because it made me who I am and helped shape me.”

Greenville’s Edwin McCain Begins new Wild Ride

Edwin McCain grew up in Greenville loving music, but expecting to become a lawyer. Eventually, he started busking in Charleston, one thing led to another, and before he knew it, he became one of the biggest hitmakers of 1998 and beyond. He’s released 10 studio albums, and is currently working on a new one right here in Greenville; he’s also gearing up for a nostalgia-packed summer tour with old friends Hootie & the Blowfish and Collective Soul. Called Summer Camp with Trucks, the tour currently has 48 dates planned across the US and into Canada.

Star-Crossed: Andi Dorfman-Blaine Hart Wedding

Dorfman called it a “perfect day” in People magazine’s coverage of the wedding, and Hart agrees. “Boating our family and friends up and down the Amalfi Coast to our events was truly special and a memory that we will always have and cherish with our guests,” he says.

Explore 864: Charleston

A three-hour drive east of Greenville via I-26 will bring you to Charleston, the city that Travel + Leisure magazine has named the No. 1 City in the U.S. for 11 years running. It’s easy to see why. Steeped in charm, Charleston takes Southern hospitality seriously. Like a gracious Southern lady, this grand dame always minds her genteel manners and does her darnedest to show visitors a good time.
