Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar

1922 Augusta St., No. 100, Greenville
1025 Woodruff Road, D-101, Greenville
BadDaddysBurgerBar.com
The burgers have been called “insane” for a reason. Go wild with a build-your-own burger with condiments from poblano pepper mayo to peanut butter. Toppings range from mac and cheese to diced green chiles.

Bar Margaret

1269 Pendleton St., Greenville
BarMarg.com
This restaurant builds its burgers with fresh, local ingredients. The beef is sourced from Orchard View Meats in Piedmont, and the poppy seed buns are made in-house. Veggie burgers are crafted with chopped veggies and mushrooms bound with Pita House’s falafel batter.

Golden Brown & Delicious

147 Welborn St., Suite B1 at The Commons, Greenville
This restaurant features creative burgers sourced from a local farm and served OG-style, as a patty with bacon jam, or even brunched up with eggs and doughnut buns.

Grill Marks

209 S. Main St., Greenville GrillMarks.com
This eatery features a dozen Certified Angus Beef specialty options, plus vegan patties and “unburgers” like chicken and salmon, too. Leave room for a milkshake.

Halls Chophouse

550 S. Main St., Greenville HallsChophouseGreenville.com
This Riverplace hotspot also serves lunch on Fridays and Saturdays, and brunch on Sundays, with a totally different menu that includes a downright legit Prime beef burger.

HipBurger

791 E. Butler Road, Mauldin HipBurger.com
The HipBurger food truck is still around, but you can get your burger fix (along with nuggets and handspun milkshakes) at the brick-and-mortar location.

Jack Brown’s

19 Augusta St., Suite H, Greenville JackBrownsJoint.com
Don’t bother asking for lettuce or tomato. These burgers are either made simple or loaded with unique toppings. Try the Greg Brady that is topped with house-made mac and cheese and barbecue chips.

KO Burger

126 Augusta St., Suite 12 at Gather GVL, Greenville
The retro-style griddled burgers are thin, crisp and juicy. The all-beef hot dogs are equally delectable. The battered fries and KO sauce are a must.

Northgate Soda Shop Photo by Jack Robert Photography

Northgate Soda Shop

918 N. Main St., Greenville
This soda shop has been grilling up Greenville’s best burgers and topping ’em with everything from fried eggs to pimiento cheese to, of course, bacon — since 1947.

Perfect Buns Provided by AC Hotel

Perfect Buns

20 E. Broad St. at Camperdown Plaza, Greenville PerfectBunsGVL.com
Try a signature smashed burger or go for a handheld like the hot chicken sandwich or wrapped Caesar. There are vegan options, too.

The Sheriff Burger

2541 N. Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville
1020 N. Main St., Simpsonville
@The_SheriffBurger
This Latin-inspired burger joint also offers vegan options. There are wings, hot dogs and sides, too.

Whataburger

Nine locations across the Upstate Whataburger.com
The beloved Texas-based burger chain has made its way to the 864. There are eight burger varieties to choose from and even a breakfast burger that is topped with egg, hash browns and bacon.

Windy City Burgers

12 E. Coffee St., Greenville WindyCityBurgers.com
This intimate, urban-style restaurant that grinds all burgers in-house with choice chuck and pork belly.

Woodside Bistro

East Fifth Street at The Lofts at Woodside Mill, Greenville WoodsideBistro.com
This burger — one-third pound of Braveheart beef topped with white American cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion — gets rave reviews. Pair it with the hand-cut or sweet potato fries.

Fast Fact

The oldest continually operating restaurant in the Upstate is Spartanburg’s Beacon Drive-In. Serving up local favorites like the Chili-Cheese A-Plenty since 1946, the restaurant also appeared on the premiere episode of Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.”
