Community Journals team preps to perform for a cause
Leigh Savage, executive editor of TOWN and atHome magazines, is competing in Sync for Survivors, a fundraiser for Cancer Survivors Park Alliance.
Savage is teamed up with Heather Propp, formerly a sales executive at Community Journals, for the event on August 23 at Greenville Theatre.
“I signed up because it sounded like fun, but soon learned the importance of this fundraising effort,” says Savage. Cancer Survivors Park Alliance ensures the sustainability of the 6.8-acre park along the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail in Greenville, and also works to engage, educate, and empower people whose lives have been touched by cancer.
Look Back: 2024’s Sync for Survivors
The event will include teams of community leaders, survivors, and supporters lip syncing and dancing to crowd-pleasing music. (Savage hints that her team name, The News Girls, is a play on The Weather Girls, whose signature song is “It’s Raining Men.”)
Performers are coached by professional dance instructors from Lindley Meyer Gulledge’s SHOCK dance center.
Tickets are $125 and include food, beer and wine from Larkin’s Restaurant. Half of each ticket is tax deductible. Individual votes for performers are $10 each.
