Originally founded as a railroad depot hub, Mauldin has mushroomed in recent years into a vibrant community for folks who favor the suburban life just outside of Greenville.
When it comes to parks and recreation, Mauldin has its bases covered with five fantastic parks, 11 bike trails and plenty of refreshing green space. The city also has tremendous sports programs for youth and adults at the state-of-the-art Mauldin Sports Center, which offers an indoor climbing wall, basketball courts, workout equipment and group classes for every fitness level. Seniors find exercise and art classes, yoga, seminars and movies at the Ray W. Hopkins Mauldin Senior Center.
The Mauldin Cultural Center hosts educational workshops plus visual arts exhibits, a summer outdoor concert series and a full slate of community-theater performances. Annual events are also held here, including the Mauldin Blues & Jazz Festival and Sooie: The Mauldin BBQ Cook-Off, hailed as one of the best barbecue festivals in South Carolina. In December, kick off the holidays at A Merry Mauldin Christmas tree lighting and market.
The newest addition to Mauldin’s list of trending spots, BridgeWay Station transports visitors to an Italianate village amid a complex of restaurants, shops and luxury apartments. On summer Thursdays, BridgeWay Farmers Market fills the piazza, which includes a big screen for showing family-friendly films and sports games.
Soccer fans are stoked about GE Vernova Park, the new soccer stadium adjacent to BridgeWay Station. Starting in the 2026 season, the stadium — with a total capacity of 6,300 — will be the home field for the Greenville Triumph and Greenville Liberty men’s and women’s soccer clubs, as well as available for hosting concerts, festivals and other community events.
Work is in progress on the new City Center urban village at Mauldin’s main crossroads. Included in the complex will be Maverick Yards, a mixed-use development with townhomes and a 25,000-square-foot entertainment complex including the Pickle Yard, a collection of pickleball courts. In addition to pickleball and food concepts, the development will feature an outdoor stage for live performances, fire pits and a biergarten.
