Recently, we told you a bit about MDVIP, an exciting new membership-based program that partners with primary care doctors to offer a more personalized, preventative approach to health care.

For an annual fee you can join MDVIP, a program where physicians significantly limit the number of patients they see, capping it at around 600.

Patients can even get same-day appointments and speak with their physician after hours as a part of the program.

And there are few physicians better qualified to be a part of the MDVIP program than Dr. Meredith Vejnar. She’s seen firsthand what focused, individual attention can do to help patients who are struggling.

“My first experience with the medical field was when my family joined Mercy Ships,” Dr. Vejnar says. “They have hospital ships that travel internationally to help underserved patients. My dad was a hospital administrator, and my mom was an ER nurse. I was in Africa, handing out medication in Sierra Leone when I was 7 or 8.”

The trip opened Dr. Vejnar’s eyes to the number of people who need medical care but can’t afford it.

“People are looking for a solution to their problems and they’re looking to someone that has the ability to help them feel better,” she says. “That was my introduction to medicine.”

Now, as a member of the MDVIP program. Dr. Vejnar can practice family medicine as she’s always wanted.

“I was constrained by the amount of time that I had and felt that we couldn’t have as effective of a conversation,” she says. “Being affiliated with MDVIP allows me the time and the focus that I need with each patient.”
