The TD Saturday Market has become a favorite tradition in Greenville, with vendors lining Main Street selling farm-fresh produce, local crafts, and tasty treats. But this isn’t a new development for the city; as this photo shows, downtown markets have been a staple in the community for more than 100 years.
At this “curb market” in 1922, Ford Model Ts and Studebakers pulled up on Court Street to peddle fruits and flowers right near the spot where locals and visitors gather today.
The latest iteration of the market kicked off in 2003 with 20 vendors. Now approaching its 20th season, the market is planning to offer more options than ever: live music, children’s activities, chef demonstrations, and more than 70 vendors offering all of the berries, cakes, coffee, blooms, candles, and crafts you can carry home.
