The setting: a college frat party. The scene: Tam makes a silly joke; Taylor shoots back “with some attitude.” That was the moment Tam knew—he got Taylor’s phone number from a friend and never looked back.
Seven years later, Tam pulled off the perfect surprise proposal. A professional DJ, he packed up equipment and reviewed songs for a pretend job to throw Taylor off the trail. Taylor made plans to go to Pretty Place and a winery with a friend, but when they arrived, Tam was there, in the perfect scenic spot to ask her to marry him.
The wedding was held at Gassaway Mansion and incorporated numerous personal touches, including their dog, Tyson, who stood with the groomsmen throughout the ceremony. The reception honored Tam’s Vietnamese heritage with a performance by the Purple Lotus Lion Dance Team, which wowed guests.
The bride wore a dress from Madison Carolina Bridal, and the reception included music, lighting, and a photo booth from Rosé Weddings & Events.
The couple lives in Greenville, where Taylor is marketing and communications manager for the Greenville Symphony Orchestra and Tam is a full-time DJ known as DJ Tambition.
