Cameron and Ashton officially met in the summer of 2012. To their surprise, just one month later, their parents planned a family beach trip together, as both parents had a mutual friend. It was love at first sight—for Cameron, at least—but the two didn’t officially start dating until 2017, because the timing and age gap didn’t previously work out.

The couple dated for four years before getting engaged. Cameron’s college graduation present was a week-long trip to Sanibel Island, Florida—her favorite vacation spot since she was young. She was able to bring whoever she wanted, so she immediately thought of bringing Ashton. He had never been to the island before, and she was excited to show him the spot she grew up going to for vacations. One night during the trip, they made dinner plans at an elegant restaurant.

Cameron had no idea what was to come. Just 20 minutes before their reservations, Ashton asked if they could go to the tip of the island to take some pictures. Cameron was getting hangry at the thought of rushing to take beach pictures and being late to the dinner reservations. Then, once he managed to get her to the spot he picked out, they saw a photographer with a large camera, and Cameron thought they would get in the way of her wildlife photos. Ashton managed to calm her into just the right position and immediately got down on one knee. The woman Cameron imagined was a wildlife photographer was actually their engagement photographer. Cameron’s family flew in a couple of days later to celebrate.

A wedding day expected to be ruined by Hurricane Ian ended up turning out perfect, with clear blue skies and impeccable temperatures. Had the day taken a turn, Wedding Coordinator Ashley Black and Assistant Coordinator Hannah Silvey had extensive alternative rain plans. The ceremony was held at South Wind Ranch in Travelers Rest. As soon as it was time for Cameron to walk down the aisle, the outdoor chapel doors opened, and birds began singing and flying above. Cameron wore a romantic Made With Love gown from the Lovely Bride in Charleston, and Laura Michelle Floral provided arrangements.

Cameron, a registered nurse in an ICU, and Ashton, a project manager for an electrical contractor, live in Anderson.
