A chair is a humble object. But to local artist Meredith Piper, it’s an invitation. Through paint and sculpture, Meredith explores suffering, healing, and the essence of belonging in her upcoming series, A Seat at the Table. Funded in part by a grant from the Metropolitan Arts Council, this colorful collection of work was inspired by a teaching on lament at her church.
The exhibit premiere on Friday, November 12, will coincide with the grand opening of Meredith’s new studio space at Art Crossing. “We are here to love one another,” Meredith says, “to bless and break the bread together, and to give freely of ourselves. What better way than at a table, where we can make room for all.”
Ten percent of all sales from the exhibit will go to Jasmine Road, a local nonprofit for women who’ve experienced trafficking. For more info on Meredith Piper, or to purchase her work, visit meredithpiper.com.
