Mary Agnes Duncan and Adam Miller
When Mary Agnes Duncan studied abroad in Melbourne, Australia, in 2017, she knew it would be an unforgettable experience—but she didn’t expect to meet Adam Miller, who grew up on a sheep farm in Australia and was studying at Victoria University in Melbourne.
After Mary Agnes returned to the Upstate, the couple took long-distance dating to new heights, spending more than seven years flying back and forth across the Pacific Ocean to see each other. Their love carried them across continents, but the visa process was daunting. Eventually, Adam came to the US on a 90-day visit in 2024, and during a family beach trip to Litchfield, Adam proposed one evening during a walk on the shore.
The wedding took place at Buncombe Street Methodist Church, with the reception at Greenville Country Club. After years as a destination wedding designer, Mary Agnes had the connections and knowledge to design and plan the event herself, with an assist from her mother. Carey Lowe of The Idea Emporium designed the paperie suite; Blossoms made the custom bar; and Tec Petaja, a Nashville-based photographer who works around the globe, served as the photographer.
The dress by Sareh Nori, which Mary Agnes accented with a custom bolero, was purchased at Mandi Jackson Bridal in Atlanta. Flower arrangements in whites, creams, and yellows were created by Katelyn Pinner Studio.
Mary Agnes, who is taking on clients in event consulting and design, and Adam, who owns a disability support company in Australia, now live in Greenville.
