Thanks to their families attending the same church, Madeline and Alex have known each other since childhood. But their love story did not truly begin until they reconnected as adults in Charleston, where they then started dating.
The couple had been together for a year before Alex was ready to pop the question. The engagement happened over Thanksgiving break in 2022. It started with Alex slyly convincing Madeline to drive up to Caesar’s Head, where he was waiting at her family’s mountain house that he decorated as a surprise. He proposed as the sun set across the mountains.
The wedding took place in the church where they first met, Christ Church Episcopal, with a reception at the Poinsett Club in downtown Greenville.
The bride wore a gown by Justin Alexander from Poinsett Bride, forever memorialized by their live painter who illustrated the couple’s first dance. The guests were treated to cake from Tom’s Lunchbox and a spirited performance from a brass quartet. Madeline, a lawyer, and Alex, an insurance broker, live in Greenville.
